Peggy Day, 78, of Germantown, TN, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015 in the loving arms of her husband of 56 years, Jimmie Day. She is now resting peacefully with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She leaves behind Jimmie, two children, Debbie and Mark and their spouses, Donald and Patty, as well as three loving grandchildren, Kendall, Kerrie, and Natalie, and many dear friends. After having grown up in Meridian, MS and upon graduation from Blue Mountain College, Peggy married Jimmie and became a Memphis City school teacher where she taught, cared for, and nurtured children for 32 years. All the younger students wanted Mrs. Day when they got to the 5th grade. Peggy was an active member of her church throughout the years, and enjoyed socializing with her friends, camping, playing bridge, enjoying theatre, tutoring immigrants, or just having fun with the "knit wits," knitting hats for the homeless. She loved to travel, and boy did she enjoy a well-prepared meal. You may not know what tourist sites she had visited, but according to her journal, you definitely knew what she had eaten and where she had dined. She was a real trooper up to the very end, fighting Rheumatoid arthritis and never complaining about the crippling disease which it had become. Mom, we will miss you, we love you, and may God wrap you in his arms. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 12pm until the funeral service begins at 1pm, all at Covenant Baptist Church, 3170 Houston Levee Rd. Collierville, TN 38017. Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Baptist Church building fund or the charity of your choice.
